“The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicolas soon would be there.” This line from the well-known Clement C. Moore story, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, will come true for students and families in South Carolina and Illinois.
The social purpose committee in our Sacramento branch gathered to discuss what they could do this season. Kathie Duff’s “wondering eyes” had seen a posting from a teacher she knew, asking for supplies and toiletries to provide to the 16 students in her classroom. Many of the basic items being requested would be considered luxuries to these economically disadvantaged students. The committee thought this was a great idea and so the collection began, so lively and quick! Thanks to our claims operations colleagues in Sacramento and our Carrier Practice branches for donating!
In our home office, our Accounting team worked together for the fifth year in a row to support the Salvation Army Norridge Citadel. They sponsored the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, which provides new clothes and toys to children in need. Christine Zagoriski organizes and posts “angel tree” tags that states specific needs for a child. Her colleagues came through and grabbed tags to make sure a child wasn’t left out. A big thanks to Chris and the Accounting team for donating their time and gifts for the fifth year!
Though these gifts may not come on a sleigh pulled by eight tiny reindeer, they will ensure the students and their families a “Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”
