On April 7, Gallagher Bassett joined thousands of teachers, students, parents and community supporters for the Miami-Dade County Public Schools 3rd Annual Superintendent’s 5K Challenge held in downtown Miami’s Museum Park. Gallagher Bassett was the sponsor of the “Your Pace or Mine” Financial Services team, led by M-DCPS CFO, Ron Steiger.
Tad Wall, Claims Operations Manager for the dedicated MDCPS branch was impressed by the significant turnout on the part of the community. “It is the biggest 5K event I have participated in.” Tad turned in a solid finishing time, but admitted that his wife, Patty, left him in the dust. “It was payback for last year.”
Most exciting was the participation of the Rebuilding Me Team! Gallagher Bassett is a proud supporter Rebuilding Me, a loss prevention and wellness program established by the Miami Dade County Public Schools Risk Management department. Our own Naomi Kuker ran and walked with the Rebuilding Me group.
"This community cares deeply about public education and ensuring students have the resources needed to succeed in the classroom," said Superintendent of Schools Alberto M. Carvalho. "This morning, South Florida demonstrated their support for our students and teachers by participating in the Superintendent’s 5K Walk in remarkable numbers. Today was a great day for education in Miami-Dade."
The Superintendent’s Challenge 5K Run/Walk is hosted jointly with The Foundation for New Education Initiatives and was created to promote health and wellness in our schools and in our community.
We, at Gallagher Bassett, are proud to support Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and their commitment to our community, public education, and giving our students the world. http://www.giveourstudentstheworld.org
