President Trump Signs $1.5 Trillion Tax Code Rewrite Into Law
Dec 22, 2017

President Trump signed a $1.5 trillion rewrite of the tax code into law Friday.  The measure, known as the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, is being hailed by the GOP as the Trump administration’s biggest legislative achievement.

The House of Representatives approved the final version of its rewrite of the U.S. tax code on Wednesday.  GOP lawmakers joined President Trump on the White House lawn, lauding the most sweeping overhaul of the U.S. tax system in more than 30 years.  President Trump decided to quickly sign the bill this year, rather than hold a ceremonial bill signing after the New Year.

The tax bill contains a number of provisions affecting all aspects of the U.S. economy from take home pay, to corporate taxation, to revisions in health care policy.  We are tracking these developments, including the anticipated favorable effects on the P&C insurance market.
